I made these for a family gathering appetizer and I'll start by saying there are zero leftovers. I'm talking people just hanging by the crockpot and saying these are going to need to be a staple thing I make for events. This shouldn't be much of a surprise because bacon wrapped anything is delicious - especially when you add sauce, sugar, and slow cook it! These would be perfect for superbowl or game watching parties as well as an addition to any sort of finger food or appetizer offering!
Please note all the amounts in this recipe are not exact, just however many you want to make!

You will need:
  • 1 14oz pack Beef Lit'l Smokies
  • Hickory Brown Sugar BBQ sauce 1/4-1/2 cup
  • 1 lb classic cut bacon - for this recipe it's best to get prepackaged bacon as the stuff from the deli will be a little fatty & thick for the size of the lil smokies and end result won't taste as great!
  • Brown sugar to sprinkle on each lil smokie.
  • Toothpicks
Directions:
  • Get out a medium sized mixing bowl.

  • Pour in your lil smokies
  • Slowly add hickory brown sugar BBQ sauce and toss until fully coated.

  • Cut your bacon strips in thirds and roll up and toothpick the smokies one at a time adding them to the crockpot.

  • When you have one full layer in the bottom of your crockpot sprinkle brown sugar on top and then add in another layer, sprinkling brown sugar on top of each layer.
    • (excuse the giant toothpicks in some, I had a few left to get rid of but you should use normal toothpicks! :)

  • When you have added in as many as you want to make sprinkle your last layer of brown sugar and optionally drizzle some of the BBQ sauce on top!
  • Turn the crockpot on high and cook 4 hours or until bacon looks fully cooked on the outside. I found it helpful to gently stir them around a few times after the first couple hours as the ones on the bottom will cook fastest. Just be careful and try to keep the toothpicks in tact if you do this!

  • You can either leave them in the crockpot or remove them to a platter to serve.
  • Serve and enjoy being the popular cook with your guests!

An impressive share, I just given this onto a colleague who was doing a little analysis on this. And he in fact bought me breakfast because I found it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the treat! But yeah Thnkx for spending the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love reading more on this topic. If possible, as you become expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more details? It is highly helpful for me. Big thumb up for this blog post!

I miss my family and due to my work schedule, I do not have time to visit them and have our family gatherings. Lately, it has been so rare for us to gather in one place and bond and make new memories together. That is why I asked my boss for a leave of absence and luckily, he allowed me. I want to make something for our upcoming family gathering and fortunately, I found this post. I will definitely make this Crockpot Brown Sugar BBQ Bacon Lil' Smokies and I am sure that they will love it.
