All I have to say is YUM. I'm not always a thin cut steak or Carne Asada fan, but my boyfriend is and had some thawing for the night --- so I decided to get creative and voila, these were AMAZING and SO easy! But I mean it would be hard not to love something on a hawaiian roll.... Anyway I'll give you directions for how I made these but you could easily leave out some toppings if they aren't for you! I made these for dinner but these would also make a great party appetizer!
You will need:
  1. Approximately 1 pound carne asada meat. You should be able to find it at your local grocery store butcher or in the meat section of the store prepackaged and ready to grill.
  2. Hawaiian rolls
  3. A few pepperjack cheese slices
  4. 1 jalapeno
  5. A few slices of avocado
  6. BBQ sauce of your choice, I used brown sugar & hickory.
  7. Toothpicks are helpful for keeping them together, but not necessary!
Directions:
  1. Grill your carne asada meat and set aside. If you don't have a grill just use a frying pan on the stove.
  2. Preheat oven to 350'.
  3. Cut the carne asada meat into pieces big enough to put on your hawaiian roll, slice the pepperjack slices into fourths, slice and remove the seeds from your jalapeno, slice up some of an avocado, and cut your hawaiian rolls in half.
  4. Layer a piece of cheese and then a jalapeno on each halved hawaiian roll bottom. In the center of the jalapeno add a drop of BBQ sauce (not pictured).
  5. Add your meat and then avocado on top if desired.
  6. Top off with the top of the roll and toothpick together if you can!
  7. Bake for 5 minutes, serve, and enjoy!
